I completed Sarahjoy Marsh’s Yoga & Social Justice program in Portland, Oregon in 2014. This program has roots in the Anusara style and included trauma informed yoga focused on providing a safe and nurturing classroom for under-served populations. I’ve since completed a wide array of yoga certifications including The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) with Nikki Myers, Therapeutic Wisdom of Yoga with Doug Keller, Yoga for Depression with Gary Kraftsow, and Yoga Philosophy with Judith Lassater.
In 2017 I opened my own yoga studio which turned out to be a great success. After a year, however, I decided that running a studio wasn’t for me, so I closed the doors and returned to teaching.
In addition to being a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance I’m also a Continuing Education Provider. I lead business trainings for yoga and fitness instructors.
When I’m not in my yoga role I’m an Academic Adviser at Rouge Community College in Southern Oregon.
I was an at-risk youth on probation who lived on the streets and faced the adversity that comes with that lifestyle. I dropped out of high school and became a single parent at the age of 18. Against all odds, with the support of my family, counselors, yoga, and various helping agencies I came out the other side. I now hold a Bachelors degree in Human Services, a Peer Support Certification, and am an entrepreneur. I’m humbled beyond belief at the life I have today.
I love to travel with my family, hike, write, and sing. I recently took up playing the harmonium which I LOVE. I enjoy learning new things and will start taking a Spanish class in Jan 2018. Ask me how it’s going 😉
Check out some of my adventures in this slideshow! They include camping at Mt.Shasta, exploring the Grand Canyon, seeing the big island of Hawaii from a bird’s eye view, Seane Corn, Nikki Myers, Washington DC, and more.
